How To Remove Stains From Clothes

The summertime in Michigan is known for many things, but the not-so-popular one is all the stains on clothes that come out of prolonged sessions outside. While seeing these as your family rolls in from the day’s events can cause you to groan, do not despair. There are plenty of ways to eliminate these blemishes and make the clothing look brand new.

At Clarkston Cleaning Services, we aim to help you through all of your cleaning turmoils. Therefore, we have created this article to highlight the top options for stain removal. Continue reading to find out how to get those eye sores out of your life for good!

Grass Stains

By far the most common stain you will see over a summer season of hard playing time by the youngsters. Coming in with grass-stained knees is a common occurrence that can cause you to think that the clothing is ruined. However, that is not the case.

To begin, create a solution with two parts water to one part vinegar. Once complete, allow the clothing to soak in the mixture for at least 15 minutes. As it is submerged, you can lightly swipe at the stain with a cloth to try to wipe away the stain. After the time is up, wash it with your favorite detergent, and voila!

As another option, you can pre-treat the stain with detergent as soon as the stain is noticed. This action will help the stain rise and create a better opportunity for removal. You could also use a soft brush versus a cloth to attempt to get all the stain particles to the surface for washing.

Sweat

Summertime in Michigan means sweat, especially as the days become longer and more humid in July and August. With this comes an ample amount of sweat that can easily stain clothing. Although it can feel hopeless to remove these, it’s anything but.

First, attempt the same process as you would with grass stains. Create the solution of two parts water to one part vinegar. Allow it to soak for 15 minutes while dabbing at stains. Continue to wash with detergent.

If that doesn’t work, you can try sprinkling baking soda on the stains and allow it to sit for at least 20 minutes. You can also use this method in conjunction with the water and vinegar solution. Air drying after being washed in the bright sunlight can help the stain disappear.

Sunscreen

A necessary evil, applying sunscreen will help protect your skin, but the stains to clothing that come as a result can feel like the death of you. There is no reason to fret, however! To begin, turn the clothing inside out and run the clothing under cold water. This will help to push the stain to the surface.

Then, make simple dish soap and warm water solution, blotting the solution onto the clothing from the outside in. Rinse the shirt out with hot water and launder per usual. If the stain is stubborn, you can use the baking soda approach as you did for the sweat stain above.

Conclusion

While figuring out how to remove stains from clothes during the summertime can seem daunting, it’s not as complex as you might think. Continue visiting our Clarkston Cleaning Services website for more cleaning tips!
